How to fix your English speaking now and for free!
Reading out loud does wonders for your spoken English, I cross my heart! Two things you can easily read: news current events and recent autobiographies. They’re great vocab used in a more conversational way. The cherry on top: find an audiobook version so you can also copy the pronunciation.
Writing on sites like italki.com will make you speak better, because native speakers correct your vocabulary, sentence structure and grammar for free! So when you get the chance to speak, you’ve already improved those three skills, and feel more confident when you speak!
An online language partner is basically a free English tutor. If you only have a phone, download tandem, if you have a computer, go to italki.com. They both have thousands of native speakers, waiting to chat with you.
But hold up! When you see someone you want to chat with don’t just say “hi” “hey” or “hello”... That is lame! When I use these apps, I never respond to those people. Introduce yourself, say what you’re interested in, why you’re studying English, and ask questions about them! When you’re interesting, no one cares how bad your English is!
Meetups. These aren’t everywhere, but they are free, and a great way to meet English speakers who want to chat with you and have fun. Just remember: no one cares about your English, they care about who you are – your personality, and that doesn’t suck!
